Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

Whatever inspired Dr. Weedman to say, “I’m going to be a dentist when I grow up!” as a child, stuck with her throughout her life! On one hand, she thinks Hermie the Elf in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer may have been her inspiration, and then on the other, she thinks it could have been trying to get a shock factor when telling people her dreams. She’s really not sure, but by the time she got into college, dentistry was her sole burning interest.

When she began seriously looking into career options in college, she realized dentistry is a combination of science, medicine, and art that was perfect for her, and she loves talking to patients. Every day she worked towards getting into dental school, she realized it was the perfect option for her.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Weedman graduated from Northern Arizona University with her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Chemistry. She then went on to attend the Midwestern University School of Dental Medicine - Arizona, where she earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry.

In addition to her rotations throughout dental school, where she learned all aspects of cutting-edge dentistry, including digital dentistry, implant placement and restoration, oral surgery, and endodontics, she also has several years of experience in both private and corporate dentistry. She relentlessly pursues continuing education as well, which allows her to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in her field. She especially enjoys taking extra education on occlusion and full mouth rehabilitaions with groups like Spear and Dr. Dick Barnes Group.

Every year, Dr. Weedman attends the Western Regional Dental Experience as well as meets all regulatory requirements in dental anesthesia, periodontal protocols, etc. She also remains an active member of the American Dental Association and Arizona Dental Association.
